WINEMAKING & CONSULTANCY

testimonials

"We were very happy to find a company such as Stomp Winemaking to make our first wine vintage. As a small venture it was particularly important to us to work with someone who was not only happy to look after smaller clients but also keen to communicate with them and keep them in the picture during the process. Michael made us a beautiful first Rosé which is nearly already sold out, before the remaining Merlot is even in the bottle. We have found Stomp Winemaking to not only be great winemakers but also to be a business with the utmost integrity and care, no matter what the size of their client. We would highly recommend them and have proudly included their name on our wine label."

"Equadin Ridge is delighted with the wines that Stomp winemaker Michael McManus has produced for both the 2005 and 2006 vintage. The wines are a result of a close consultative process which involved regular discussions between Michael and Equadin Ridge from before harvest until bottling and clearly reflect that style that we wished to produce. Michael has done a great job in bringing out the underlying fruit characters of the grapes whilst giving the final product structure and style."

"When I first decided to grow grapes and make wine, putting in the trellising and the canes in the ground was definitely the easy part.

Finding a wine maker was a different business altogether. There are many contract winemakers and many contract wines. I think we have all experienced our share of these, which together with the ubiquitous 'industrial' wines fill so many bottle shops and restaurant wine lists.

What I wanted was a winemaker who would take my Lilliputian production seriously, and who would care enough to treat my tiny output with the same attention and love that I had lavished on growing the grapes.

I was told by many nay-sayers that it was not possible to make a good wine from Chambourcin grapes. Michael listened, gently advised, and in his quiet un-self aggrandising way, went away and made a spectacular crimson red from my much despised Chambourcin, and then followed that this vintage, with a Silver medal winning Chambourcin Rosé.

A great wine maker, and a lovely man. I can't recommend Michael highly enough."
